A single-herb liquid extract of dried roots of Rhodiola rosea, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Rhodiola is a stonecrop — a succulent — that grows where almost nothing else will: rock crevices, cliff ledges and scree in the Arctic and high mountains of Siberia, Scandinavia, Iceland, the Altai and the Rockies. It makes low rosettes of fleshy blue-green leaves and dense heads of yellow flowers, male and female on separate plants. Cut the thick rootstock and it smells of roses, which is where both rosea and the English name roseroot come from. It grows very slowly in those conditions, and decades of wild digging have thinned Altai populations badly, so cultivated and rotationally harvested material matters here.

Tincture: Rhodiola rosea dried roots, organic sugar-cane alcohol, distilled water, vegetable glycerin USP.
Glycerite: Rhodiola rosea dried roots, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

Do not take rhodiola late in the day; it can interfere with sleep. Not for use in pregnancy, and speak to a practitioner first if you take antidepressants or have bipolar disorder.

Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are taking any medication, have a medical condition, or are scheduled for surgery, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Discontinue use if an adverse reaction occurs. Do not use if the tamper seal is broken or missing. Store tightly capped in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
